First off, as you all know, our bodies were designed to move and work.

We were made to walk and walk for hours.

And intended to hunt and gather our own food.

Now, I know there are a lot of people that are trying to get back into those ways a little.

Homesteading is becoming very popular nowadays.

But, for most of us, that’s not the case.

We spend most of our time sitting.

This is not good on our bodies.

And it can lead to a lot of health problems.

That’s probably the most important reason to get up and try to move around more.

And the easiest way to do that is to go for a walk every day.

I know that’s easier said than done though.

Most of us sit while we’re working.

Then, we sit down while we eat.

And be honest, how many of us don’t spend the evening sitting on the couch watching TV?

Form a Habit

One way to help make walking a habit is to form that habit.

It can be a challenge to get into the habit of going for a walk every day.

It’s hard to stay motivated and stick with it as well.

But, that’s exactly what we need to do.

You need to make it become a habit in your daily life.

Just like the habit of brushing your teeth or taking out the trash.

Then, you’ll find it’s much easier to get that walk in every day.

Find a Route

The best place to start is to find a place or a certain route where enjoy walking.

It really helps to make it as easy as possible.

Your favorite place may be your local park.

But, if you have to drive there and back, you’re probably not going to do it every day.

Maybe you can save that kind of walk for the weekends.

And try to come up with something that is going to be convenient, yet pleasant enough for your everyday routine.

If you live in a neighborhood, that may be the best place to come up with a route.

I mean how much easier can it get than just walking out your front door?

All you have to do is slip on your sneakers and go.

Now, if you continue to use that same route every day, it will also help you form that habit.

You’ll begin to notice over time that you will get through your route quicker and with less effort.

This will help give you some encouragement.

You’ll know that you are making a difference.

That will help give you the motivation to keep going.

Plus you’ll have the benefit of getting stronger and becoming more fit.

Grab Your Phone

Now here are some other things that may be helpful.

Grab your phone before you go.

You can try listening to your favorite music.

Or maybe listen to a podcast or an audio book.

This will help the time go by faster.

Maybe you can use your favorite media as a way to bribe yourself every day.

For instance, if you have a favorite podcast you enjoy, save it for your walk.

Don’t let yourself listen to it until then.

This can be a great incentive to make yourself get out there.

Even on those days you really don’t want to.

Find a Friend

Now, last but not least, consider getting a walking partner.

Talk to a friend or neighbor.

See if they want to partner up with you.

This will give you someone to talk to, which can also make the time go faster.

And not only will it be more fun, but it will give you some accountability.

You’ll find that it’s a lot harder to skip it when someone is waiting for you.

If your friend is relying on you to go with them, you’re not going to want to let them down.

Hopefully, some of these tips can help you out.

Give some of them a try.

See if they can help you create a habit of walking every day.

It’s a great way to start improving your health, and in turn, your life.
