Today we have a diabetic bag checklist.
It’s a short little post with 11 “don’t leave home without it” items.
I wanted to give you a little reminder of things you should be carrying with you at all times.
Now, most of them are obvious, but it can’t hurt to give it a little look.
This list is for Type 1 Diabetics.
Some things on this list will not apply to anyone else.
If you would like to learn more about the different types of diabetes, I recommend reading Understanding Type 1 Diabetes.
I am also making a diabetic must-have list.
You will find that these items are listed there as well.
But, that’s where I go into a little more detail about each one.
These are all items that I recommend you carry with you at all times.
They all play an important role in keeping you safe.
For those of you who don’t already know, my daughter is a Type 1 Diabetic.
She was diagnosed 5 years ago.
And you can find Our Diagnosis Story here.
Every item listed are things that she keeps in her diabetic bag to this day.
It’s just a quick little diabetic bag checklist to run through and make sure you have as well.
- Carry bag – she uses an insulated lunchbox
- Test Strips
- Lancing Device – I recommend Genteel
- Extra lancets
- Alcohol wipes
- Needles and/or pump w/ extra supplies
- Emergency Kit – We both carry one
- Fast-acting sugar such as a fruit roll-up
- Long-acting sugar like chocolate or a granola bar
I understand that most of these items are pretty much a given.
But, it’s good to have a little reminder sometimes.
You never know what you may have forgotten.
It’s a pretty serious “don’t leave home without it” list!
